Enter the Hero

So, I recently played a game called "Hero Core" ([link]), an indie game by Daniel Remar. I sat down and played the through the first difficulty/map, and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised in how I couldn't stop playing until I finished it. My most enjoyable moment in the game was when I successfully took down the "eliminator" character that was dogging me throughout the game. Wit this picture, I wanted to give form to the atmosphere that the hero first experiences. I took some creative freedoms in the hero's appearance.

To me, the game feels like Metroid game mechanics mixed with Mega Man and Legend of Zelda game play visualized with 60's video game graphics (but at a higher resolution). The black and white contrast can be harsh on the eyes, though.
